Upper management doesn't care about anything but numbers. I absolutely hate this field now and want to get out of it. The sad thing is I feel stuck in it.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13934590015141141407noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6757582998958239346.post-35734201859223776372021-08-06T22:54:28.193-04:002021-08-06T22:54:28.193-04:00Having been a Reg Psych nurse of over 20 yrs, i ...Having been a Reg Psych nurse of over 20 yrs, i moved to C/M position 3 yrs ago, and I am struggling. It's so overwhelming, i dread going to work. I have 45 clients, and work half time, and should not be so stressed, I am good at my job. I feel totally overwhelmed, underappreciated, and constantly question my ability and judgement, where I was previously confident, and capable in my professional role - i worked in Acute services and Emergency psychiatry, which was challenging but for me much less stressful job,s as once you finished your day, you knew your work was done. In Case Management, you carry the never-ending issues of your clients with you. Many clients don't want to connect with you, and it's impsossible to get ahead of anything, and nobody has your back. It's a shame this role cannot be valued and supported more. <br /><br />Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6757582998958239346.post-11492986565555627902021-03-06T04:46:13.617-05:002021-03-06T04:46:13.617-05:00Thank you for this article. We need to revamp our mental services in the U.S. Just think if we could get families the mental health care they needed, maybe so many would not end up needing a social worker to intervene.Mjhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02897297201921232596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6757582998958239346.post-27762101432059379802021-02-07T15:51:30.839-05:002021-02-07T15:51:30.839-05:00Sorry that you had to go through that experience. ...Sorry that you had to go through that experience. I left CM when a Manager yelled at me while on a home visit and she was so loud my patient heard it all although I left the room and did not have speaker on. As I drove home I said I don't need this abuse and retired promptly. I would have stayed on longer but I was treaded disrespectful. It's a great job of you have good leadership.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6757582998958239346.post-55615874381148292192020-06-07T02:15:58.353-04:002020-06-07T02:15:58.353-04:00Wow 165 cases has to be overwhelming. Each client has 2 to 5 agencies that provide their in home care. So 165 times 3 agencies per client is 495 clients and agencies I must communicate with plus piles of paperwork, data entry and phone calls. The number doesn't include the family members that call per each client either. The workload is absolutely ridiculous and clients call asking " Why didn't you call me back yet?" "Can you do this, I need this by tomorrow"<br />No I can't because you are number 85 on my list of clients who need to make a change to their service plan which takes an hour of work per client. Then getting bombarded by 100 emails per day and 10 to 20 phone calls per day and the really mean client that keeps calling you every 20 minutes demanding your immediate attention. Then my friends wonder why I have to see a therapist and have compassion fatigue....hmmm I wonderAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15404259261289424977noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6757582998958239346.post-87005639377756303852019-08-30T19:46:11.899-04:002019-08-30T19:46:11.899-04:00Thanks for the feedback.
